This is the eighteenth in a series of mostly unrelated GIFs by me created for the readers of the rec.arts.disney newsgroup. This is probably the last of the Belle series as she is getting a bit too old to pick on, now. ;-) All the characters are hand drawn and painted on acetate which is set against a watercolor background. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ bbloke.gif "Beauty and the Bloke" 799x429x8bit Color GIF 173281 bytes sum -r bbloke.gif >> 17660 339 Geoff Thomas wrote on December 10, 1993: Oh! Hello Belle! I didn't expect you back so soon! Who's this? Um, er, a designer from HoloDisney! You haven't seen her there before? She, ah, she started there yesterday. Yeah. What're you getting your Super-Soaker out for Belle? Now look, she's just a friend! Nothing happened, honest- WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH-ly. Should I consider that a divorce? Waaaaahhhhh! To which Amberle Ferrian responded: All right, who's been putting words in my mouth? (I'm presuming you're talking about the FDC walkaround Belle here, namely me. The real Belle wouldn't have any experience with SuperSoakers. All the ones her father tried to invent blew up in her face. :-) And who married me to Geoff without my knowing, hmm? I wish someone would *tell* me these things. Amberle, wake up for school. Amberle, do your laundry. Amberle, you just got married the other day...Guess that's what I get for missing staff meetings at FDC... And Geoff, what are you going to do when the Beast finds out about this little relationship once the Beast finds out, hmm? And could someone tell me where we got hitched, and who my maid of honor was, and where we went for the honeymoon? Please say it wasn't ToonTown. The Hill-Ton is a really crummy hotel for humans... As always, :-) ... and now for the wedding pictures :-) As you can see, Geoff is big enough where even the Beast might think twice before trying something. Our walkaround Belle looks fairly happy, but that may be because of the SuperSoaker she has behind her back. Bob noticed that Wal' was perhaps looking a bit too happy in this picture. What better place to go for a honeymoon than New Zealand where the sheep outnumber the human population by 27:1 :-) OK, I may be exaggerating a little bit. ... and the obligatory educational part. Who is that rather simple looking character and why is he here? This information is supplied with the help of Tim Pickett who is far more familiar with Geoff, er I mean Wal', than I. Wallace C. Footrot, owner of the majestic land known as Footrot Flats, is your typical Kiwi farmer. He owns sheep, horses, cattle, pigs, and of course a dog. This particular dog, whose name will not be uttered as he gets somewhat violent if one tries, was raised in a cats' home owned by Wal's Aunt Dolly. Naturally this has meant that he has a rather confused outlook on the world. The Dog spends much of his time trying to keep Wal' away from his perennial girlfriend, Darlene "Cheeky" Hobson. This time, however, even the Dog has to admit that Wal's latest acquaintance is a shade more refined. In fact, he's not saying anything, since he happens to know that this particular lady can cook a mean pikelet. Wal' Footrot and The Dog are characters from New Zealander Murray Ball's comic strip "Footrot Flats". This comic strip is, as far as I know, only available in New Zealand and Australia. Wal' even has his own movie. Best wishes to the happy couple! :-) Presented in Widescreen Inane-o-Vision (TM) [Matted 1.85:1] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ A special thanks to Tim Pickett for providing me with information and colors for Wal and Dog. Thanks also to my brother who was at Canterbury and who introduced me to Wal and the comic strip series and let me use his comic book. Bob Ito has played a critical role in making sure you did not see my initial renderings of Belle which looked pretty bad. My apologies if the Toon-o-Rama has distored Geoff's image a little. This may be a result of the Inane-o-Vision button being set in the on position and was not intended to be an attack on him. I'll try to get the machine re- adjusted in the near future ;-) This is a special present for a special someone on their special day. ... and Happy Mother's Day. :-) -- David Uy INTERNET: daviduy@ee.umr.edu OR: duy@umr.edu FDC janitor for backlot building R-37.
